The POWER of POSITIVE Thinking

                                            A positive mind anticipates happiness, joy, health and a successful result.

This week I had the opportunity to join a good friend at Oprah Winfreys ‘Life Tour’ at the Metro Convention Centre.  To tell you the truth I wasn’t expecting all that much.  I like Oprah and I have always enjoyed her show, but I’m not the type (and there were many) who goes into a shaking, crying frenzy when she walks on stage. After spending close to 3 hours standing in line and then ending up AT THE BACK OF THE ROOM OF 9000 PEOPLE (she was a dot on the stage) all I could think was ‘good thing the tickets were free’.

Well…I have to say I was pleasantly surprised.  Not so much with Oprah but with her choice of guests and the messages they delivered.  I really don’t know if I have ever been in such an electrifying, positive environment.

Do you ever find that if you are feeling a bit down or negative that by being around positive people your mood shifts?  The power of positive thinking is remarkable.  The old saying “we are what we eat” holds just as true for “we are what we think”.

And those speakers made me think.  Each of the speakers were so incredibly stimulating, positive,  and motivating that you couldn’t possibly come out of that room feeling anything less than omnipotent (I lie…Deepak Chopra…whoa…I guess I haven’t transcended enough to ‘get’ him.  But neither did Oprah so I didn’t feel so bad).

I truly feel that if you ‘believe it’ you can ‘become it’ but you have to believe it.  And to believe it you have to continually tell  yourself that you CAN achieve whatever it is you are trying to achieve, be it personal growth, financial growth, spiritual growth…success with your health.  But YOU have to believe in yourself and KNOW that you can do it.  Failures in the past are just that…in the past.  This is the present and tomorrow is the future.  Our past in no way defines us.  Those old sayings really hold some truth and that is why they are still quotable:  ‘tomorrow is another day’,  ‘one step at a time’, ‘baby steps get on the elevator’ (that last one…its from ‘What About Bob’).

BE POSITIVE!

Surround yourself with positive people, positive energy, positive thinking and the realization that you CAN achieve whatever you set your mind to, one step at a time and one day at a time.  Remember if you have had a ‘bad day’ that it is just that…one day.  Get yourself back on track, get off the couch, refocus your energy and don’t beat yourself up for a bit of back sliding if there has been some…that is a part of life with or without the band.

So I will close with a few of the quotes that I found most memorable from the “Life Tour”.  And I have to admit…Tony Robbins was THE BEST!!!  I’ve always thought he looked a bit like a used car salesman crossed with Herman Munster…but MAN is he charismatic!  (It’s a good thing I’m happily married… :))
